Rob Williams is an English folk singer
specialising in the traditional songs of his native county,
Somerset.
Rob's first CD album,
"Outstanding Natural Beauty - Vol 1" was released on 7th
February 2012. It
includes 17 songs from the repertoire of Jane Gulliford
(or Gulliver), who was a prolific singer from the village of
Combe Florey near the beautiful Quantock Hills. Jane gave
about 40 songs to the Hammond brothers in 1905
and a further 10 to Cecil Sharp in 1908.

Rob is particularly interested
in Jane because of the intriguing possibility that he could be
related to her, or at least to her husband, Frederick.
Rob's paternal grandmother's maiden name was Gulliford,
and she lived in Nether Stowey which is only a few
miles from Combe Florey on the other side of the Quantocks.
|
Rob is also a keen melodeon and anglo concertina
player and Morris dancer.
